I seem to remember I was basing it on the 'hops are antiseptic, alcohol kills germs' theory of medicine. Think the BrewDog Hardcore IPA I had a few days later probably did more good on that score though.

Having a nice beer always seemed to be a waste when sick. Taste is all messed up and such, but maybe you're on to something there. Now that I think about it, being sick is no excuse not to have a good beer!

@Bailey - I've got a bottle of Ridgeway Very Bad Elf in the cupboard, maturing for next Xmas. Got that one from Beer Ritz as well. I think I'm right in saying it's one of 6 Xmas ales that Peter Scholey brews, all for the US market.

@James - Well, thank you very much indeed for saying so! It's that sort of comment that makes the whole thing seem worthwhile. I've added a link to Beer Epiphany to the blogroll for you, looks like it's shaping up to be a damn good blog as well - your enthusiasm really shines through, mate. I like the look of that Heavier Handed IPA you samples - doubt I'd find it over here in the UK, but I'll keep an eye out, definitely. Cheers!

This post had me smiling the whole way through. I'm not always in the mood for a tasty beverage when I'm feeling sick, but I just may give this a shot next time I feel cold symptoms coming on.

I have also been blogging about beer for a month now and it's great blogs like this one that were the inspiration. I post links from time to time of a particular blog post I really enjoy, and I plan on using this post as one of my featured beer links!

Keep up the great work. Cheers!

Feel free to check out my blog and maybe even add it to your blogroll? Either way keep the posts coming.

Shame Ridgeway aren't seen more often in the UK. Whenever I've had a bottle of anything of theirs, it's always had US export/recycling text on the label. The same was true of Young's Oatmeal Stout the few times I ever found that on sale in London.
