Hardknott Dave Takes on the BBC

Hardknott DaveDave Bailey – long-time beer-blogger, former pub-owner, now brewer of rather excellent Hardknott beers – has reported the BBC to OFCOM for featuring wine rather than beer on its Saturday Kitchen show, thereby “deliberately and unreasonably biasing its content to a foreign import” and damaging the UK economy in the process.

You can read the full story over on Dave’s blog, and Dave is also encouraging others to write to Ofcom themselves and help raise the tempo of the campaign. There are some interesting suggestions in the comments on Dave’s post as well, such as this one from pdtnc:

Everyone sit and watch Saturday Kitchen and tweet #saturdaykitchen with a request to see Beer & Food pairings. A huge flood of requests might be more direct indicator than an OfCom ‘complaint’.

Yep, I’m in. Jo and I usually sit and watch the show while we come round on a Saturday morning and I’m more than happy to tweet alternate beer-pairing suggestions (like, um, this one back in Feb, as it happens).

That hash-tag again: #saturdaykitchen. See you on Saturday morning.

That account checks out, but it’s looks suspiciously dormant to me. No logo, never tweeted. Hasn’t stopped it accumulating 2,019 followers to-date though, rather bizarrely.
