New North Manchester Beer Festival to Raise Money for local Scouts

North Manchester Ale Festival 2011Via our local paper, news that the 8th Prestwich Scout Group have hit on a novel way of raising funds, by staging the first of what they hope will become an annual event: the North Manchester Ale Festival.

The festival will take place on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th October at the Civic Suite in Radcliffe. The organisers are hoping to be able to offer 60 ales from across the country and there are sponsorship opportunities available for anyone who wants to help with the financial side of the project.

Tickets will be £4 with a discount for CAMRA members and the proceeds will go towards sending two scouts from the 8th on an expedition to Botswana next year, to help with various charitable projects.

Sounds like an excellent idea to me, and I’m sure Jo and I will be doing our best to be there one one or both nights.

    Well, better to be over-ambitious than under-ambitious, I guess. And one of the organisers is pretty well known in the Manchester trade, so he’s probably been able to drum up quite a lot of support – could be a busy one!
