Tasting Notes: Holden's Golden Glow
Brewery: Holden’s
Location: Dudley, West Midlands, England
ABV: 4.4%
Version: 500ml bottle
Source: Sainsburys
This is one of the beers that reached the final of the Sainsburys beer competition in 2008. It didn’t win that one, but it does hold a Bronze Medal from the Champion Beer of Britain 2006 in the Golden Ale category.
No surprises when it pours a rich golden colour, 18ct according to the brewery, and it gives off a light hoppy fruit aroma. The flavour is one of restrained hop bitterness, light but noticable, with a hint of lemon and a touch of malt in the finish. Overall, a gentle, easy drinking and pleasant ale that I’d certainly have again.
